CBAS® Heparin-Coated PU
View Animation of CBAS® Mechanism
CBAS® heparin coating is the Carmeda® BioActive Surface, the most sophisticated, proven, and characterized thromboresistant coating. First used commercially in the early 1990s, it has been applied to central venous catheters, vascular grafts, coronary stents, heart bypass circuits, and implanted heart assist devices by companies such as Bard, Gore, J&J, Medtronic, and Berlin Heart. Carmeda was purchased by Gore in 2005.
Foley et al present data in rats supporting that CBAS®-coated catheters are the gold standard in research catheters. The heparin is non-leaching and thus not detectable systemically.
