Handbook of Pre-clinical Continuous Intravenous Infusion

Edited by Guy Healing & David Smith, 330 pages, Taylor & Francis, 2000. ISBN 978-0748408672.

Instech review: the first of its kind in infusion research, this book provides a good overview of surgical procedures, equipment and practical tips for a wide range of laboratory animal species. It is focused on toxicity testing during pre-clinical pharmaceutical development, though many aspects, such as the surgical techniques, have broader application. Each chapter has been written by an expert in the field. Written in 1998-1999 and published in 2000, it is generally up-to-date, though some advances in equipment, such as our mouse infusion harness, are not reflected in the contents.
